Where have I been?
Wednesday I interviewed at Gleim Publications, where I was randomly surprised to find Steven Batson. Gleim put me to the test, and I was proud of how I performed under pressure (cue DJ, “Under PRESSURE!”)
That night I played drums at church. It was awesome. So, So Fun. And I met a new member of what looks to be the “crew I run with” partners in Quark or crime, or both.
Also watched some guy die on stage after looking at a folder in his backpack, and a girl got pregnant after hugging some guy, then they both died. Church Anthrax Attack? The Second Virgin Birth? Cheesy Human Video… and circle gets the square.
Then I saw another human video that was very redeemable. This is about the time I realized that I was going to have the chance (charge) and privilege (responsibility) to help with another Surge. As if moving back to Gainesville wasn’t a strong enough sense of nostalgia already, hehe.
Then, after church I talked with Leah for a long time. Fazoli’s. Always good to catch up.
Thursday morning, I found out that Gleim did want me… fine. I didn’t want Gleim. They are going to have a hard time though… I did a d*** good job.
Then I had lunch with Steve and AKing and Probbie. Godfather’s… good times… then Crob and I watched the debates at my place while I unpacked more.
Then I had a college brainstorm meeting thing with George for the Student Salute this year except that we no longer salute our students. College Sunday. A change long overdue. And I watched George work art magic on the white board. He just makes words fly right at you.
Then it was… surge meeting. Not quite the triumvirate, but still, a lot got done. We actually have a surge order. (ATTN mama green: we need to meet asap.)
After that I hooked up for a little while with Matt “RAW” Stauffer.
And there was some kind of an agreement.
Friday hit, and found me unpacking more. Then I had lunch with the Dirty Bobcat himself Matt Green, Crob and Jane.
After that I saw the movie Knocked Up. Hilarious Movie. I can’t recommend it to folks who are easily offended… but a great story, a redeeming plot, and man did I laugh a LOT.
Quotes I like from the movie:
- You look like Babe Ruth's gay brother... Gabe Ruth.
- Your face looks like Robin Williams' knuckles.
- Do you ever wonder how somebody could even like you? The biggest problem in our marriage is that she wants me around. And I can't even accept that? I don't think I can accept pure love.
- I wish I liked anything as much as my kids like bubbles.
- Marriage is like a tense, unfunny version of Everybody Loves Raymond, only it doesn't last 22 minutes. It lasts forever.
- I can't let you in cause you're too old. For this club, you know, not for the earth.
After that it was a little shopping for personal items at Target.
And I caught up with Robert Krames. Long time no see.
Then the Poop Party for Matt Green. He is awesome.
Poop Party Observations:
- The fire marshall limit for Stauffer’s Place is less than the number of people we had. I think part of the thinking behind fire marshall limits on buildings is so it doesn’t get SO HOT that a fire starts independently and we all combust.
- I am excited about a jazz band, and a jazz singer.
- I love my friends.
- I am glad I am single. No, I’m serious. At least, mainly.
Saturday… More unpacking… late lunch with my parents… Then a show at Common Grounds…
Battles Blows. Battles Blow. Battles Blew. Whatever….
Their drummer was really good, but the other three were just… just… not just bad… creatively bad… innovatively bad. Unless you would consider being innovatively bad a compliment… Then I would take it back… they don’t deserve one. If added the little cool parts here and there that were remotely enjoyable from the whole night… it would be… about 2 or 3 minutes of random stuff… mainly when it was just the drummer playing… or him and ONE other sound…
Then… Matt got bit by a dog in THE FACE! I can’t help but say it like Dane Cook when he talks about the tire…
So… yeah… I was in the ER with him until late… then Walgreen’s to fill the prescription, etc… I fell asleep about 5 am… so I missed my first Sunday back… crazy…
I had dinner with my parents, then i played Godfather:The Game in celebration of Father's Day...
now I’m at Culture…
and craziness is brewing all around… jobally… surgically… financially… womanly… let the madness commence. I’m back.
Hello again, it’s been too long Too long, too long Hello again You know you got what it is I want Anyway I’m gonna take it from you
